A Return to Coral

Several days passed and Naar Kalaman decided to head for Coral to conduct some business and work on their dominion's advancement. Midday Emerald was more than happy to come with him and Drifter decided to tag along just so he can see if his shopping list would be satisfied. Raging Snowstorm and Knife of the Ocean have decided to go Lintha-hunting and have thus departed days beforehand, tracing the infernal pirate routes with their experience in the high seas.

Upon reaching Coral, Drifter cannot help but reminisce about the past year where he used to be a commoner here. Back then he thought that his life was reaching its end as he was betrayed and sold by pirate scum, but now here he returns, his life anew, now seeking for things that would further the greater good of all Creation! Truly a weird way that fate twists things, he thought to himself.

His hunt for materials in the local markets were unsuccessful, however, as the local merchants and even the worst of pirate scum failed to produce the items that he sought. Apparently its rarity was worth more than his salt and no common mortal appeared capable of acquiring them. It was then that the thought crossed his mind.

Plentimon.

Of course, the God of Gambling residing in Coral. It was a well-spread rumor across the region that Plentimon can grant a number of requests provided that the gamble won for it was fair and square. But what has he to offer against the God who has nearly everything within reach? Surely his skills would not be at par with him, seeing that he has gambled so little in his life, let alone commit something atrocious such as that. No, he had lived a good long life as a shipwright in his mortal days, a life in piety but in honesty. He wouldn't sink to that level.

Or at least that's what he thought as his feet stopped in front of the Diving Sea Snake, Plentimon's biggest gambling house and his personal haven.

As he stood on its front doors, his mind was overcome with conviction. This is the only place where he would find the materials he seeks. This is the only place in Coral where the material can be acquired. He must gamble for it.

"NO!" Drifter yelled at himself. "I won't do it!"

He turned his back on the Diving Sea Snake, and heard several choruses of disappointment. He immediately understood - even the decision of him whether to enter the gambling house or not was already an object of a bet by tenants and patrons inside the gambling house.

The horrors of excessive gambling, Drifter thought to himself as he walked away.
