Repairing the Mid-Day Shadow

Days passed in the Isle of Forbidding Shadows and Drifter diligently worked on the task assigned to him. Although he was inexperienced with regards to blacksmithing and creating farming tools, his attunement to Knife's manse aided him in discovering how to make them and make them well. In no time he was able to complete the task and set off to work on his next project: repairing the Mid-Day Shadow.

It was fortunate that they still found the ship floating intact near Gull Atoll - the name they had given to the gull shit-laden rocky region in the middle of the sea. The solidified patches of water still clung to the hull, making it still possible for Drifter and the small crew of marines and sailors that he took to tow the ship back to the dry docks of Knife's manse.

It was then that he realized - he had left his entire livelihood back in Coral, and that includes everything - his ship plans, tools, materials, even the small amount of money he had hidden for his savings. Sure, he can repair the ship with the tools in the manse and just draw up new plans, but those plans meant a lot to him, for it belonged to his parents, holding it at a high sentimental value.

Fortunately for him, Captain Naar Kalaman and Knife of the Ocean planned to head out to Coral to arrange some things, and Drifter took this as an opportunity for his tools to be retrieved.

"Do you want something done in Coral while we're there?" Knife of the Ocean asked Drifter, who was hoisted midway up the ship's battered hull, trying to make measurements of how much wood he will need to patch the ship.

"Yes, I'd like to have my belongings in my shipyard." Drifter said, jumping down from the raised platform. "My tools and a number of ship plans were left there. There's no telling what might happen if my rival shipyards got wind of my condition and broke in my shipyard. Please retrieve them for me."

"No problem. Will you need those to repair the Shadow? We might take some time so I might not return them immediately."

"Not at all. I'll manage with the tools and manpower here. Thanks!"

And with that Drifter resumed the repairs on the ship. Knife of the Ocean, Naar Kalaman, and Raging Snowstorm proceeded to their business. They didn't return until several days later, where they recounted that Raging Snowstorm suddenly went missing for a few days, from which Knife said that Raging Snowstorm had been "borrowed" by the Emissaries of Perfectwater for some important mission that ultimately benefited his motivation - protecting Creation from the Wyld.

Drifter also received old belongings from Knife during their brief return.

"Thanks, this will help a lot." Drifter said. "The repairs might not be done for a few more days, as we're still patching up the damages. It's quite extensive, not like any I've seen."

"Of course it isn't any you've seen." Knife said. "I held that thing together with solid water. Had it been any normal ship, you'd be fishing it from the seafloor first before repairing it!"

"True, true."

"Well, we'll be sorting out some stuff in Wavecrest this time. Think you can manage with the workers here?"

"Of course. Take your time."

"All right, then. I leave the Shadow in your capable hands."

"No problem."
